Face Recognition - Biometric Based Login

To enhance the safety and security of your Chegg Q&A account, biometric-based login will soon be enabled. This feature ensures secure access to your account through facial recognition.

How to register for Biometric based login?

Here are the steps: 

  1. Enter your Chegg registered email id and password on expert.chegg.com 
  1. Accept the consent to record your biometrics – click on “I Agree”.
          

  1. Allow camera permissions on the browser pop-up 
         

  1. Place your face in the face recording circle and click the ‘Start Video Check’ button

 

  1. Follow the instructions to successfully register your face (move closer / hold your face still in the circle) 


  1. Post successful verification, accept updated T&Cs. Post this, you will be redirected to the Chegg Q&A homepage

Pre-requisites: 

Devices: 

  • 1: Your device must have a front-facing camera 

  • 2: Minimum refresh rate of the device display: 60 Hz 

  • 3: Minimum display or screen size: 4 inches 

  • 4: Device should not be jail broken or rooted 

  • 5: Proper Internet connection with decent speed 


Camera specifications: 


  • 1: Color Camera: the front-facing camera should be able to record in colors. 

  • 2: No virtual camera or camera software would work. 

  • 3: Minimum recording capability: 15 frames per second. 

  • 4: Minimum video recording resolution: 320x240px. 

  • 5: If using a webcam on a desktop, the webcam must be mounted on top of the screen. 

Note: Face once registered to an account, cannot be changed. Hence, ensure it’s you only while registering.

Please arrange a web camera or log in via laptop/mobile to register your face.  

 

Can I complete this process later? 


No, because you won't be able to log in to the dashboard without completing this process.

Why is my Face registration process failing?

Please ensure that only you, the account owner, is trying to register, and that your face is clearly visible. If the issue persists, check your camera settings or try using a different device. 

 

Can we skip Face recognition option? 


No, this option cannot be skipped.
